Letter to your soul when nothing seems to go right

Hello there. I know it has been a tough couple of days, months, or perhaps years. I don’t know how you landed here, but somehow you did. I want to speak to your weary soul if you will give me a minute. I don’t need to ask how you are faring because your face tell it all. You have been through hell and back, and every time you tried to rise, you crumbled down in humiliation. You had dreams for a good job, perfect spouse, family, good house; in short, all the nice things life has to offer. They have remained a distant possibility, and all that is left now of you is an empty shell going through life with nothing to live for. I know you have been through praying days. There are moments you have even changed your praying posture to get the attention of God. Things have not worked, and now you are even questioning his existence.

First and most important, I want you to understand that you are not alone. It seems like a very consoling statement you have heard before, but give me your attention, I expound further. You see, life can be very unfair. You may do everything right, but still find yourself on the wrong end of things. I have seen people getting first class and have to look for jobs for years. I have also seen the labeled person most likely to fail in life rising above and beyond expectations. I bet you have seen such a scenario before, and you asked yourself why and who controls this. To be very honest, I don’t know how such things happen, but I have always believed God has a purpose for everything.  Instead of dwelling on trying to control what ought to happen, I set goals and work hard for them believing that things will work out. If it does not, I look back at them and be glad that I tried my level best and moved on.

I wish I can promise you that a breakthrough is coming soon. But I don’t know how much faith you have. All I know is that you have survived the worst of storms, and a rainbow is about to show up. What you have become in the process has built your character for the good things to come. I understand your mind, soul, and body is tired. I understand your desire to give up finally. But the good book says in our adversity, that’s when God shows his strength and power. Have a little faith, the faint whisper of hope, and keep believing. You are closer to your breakthrough than ever before. Hold on; things are about to change.

Yours truly, Obie.
